Mackintosh at the Willow includes a 200 seat restaurant in the A listed, internationally recognised, original Willow Tea Rooms Building at 217 Sauchiehall Street Glasgow and the new Visitor Centre next door at No.215. The famous Tea Rooms first opened in 1903 and are of huge importance to Glasgow’s architectural and cultural heritage. The only surviving Tea Rooms designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for local entrepreneur and patron Miss Kate Cranston, the Tea Rooms are also considered one of the finest examples in the world of a complete Art Nouveau scheme.
Relax in the stunning historic surroundings of the world famous Salon de Luxe while your host guides you through the history of the original Willow Tearooms building. Afterwards, enjoy a fabulous afternoon tea for two with a glass of bubbles and take in the immersive atmosphere of the room, which was designed in partnership between Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. Round off your visit by exploring our interactive Exhibition, where you will learn more about the vibrant city of Glasgow in the late 1890s and early 1900s, a time of exciting change and innovation.
